SUPER STREET FIGHTER IV XBOX 360 PREVIEW |
|
| |
The talks
about the upcoming installment of Super Street
Fighter IV is getting a lot of people excited,
especially from fans in the fighting games
community. What we know so far is that this game
will be the upgrade version of the original
Street Fighter IV. It will include all of that
game's characters plus an expanded roster of
both brand-new and old-school warriors. We got a
glimpse of one of the fighters that is making
its way to the final build: Juri. Juri is a
Korean fighter who is amazingly flexible and
fast. She appears to use a variation of the soul
energy like what Bison and Rose have, which looks
to be very handy against enemies in the air. Her
supers are too intense to watch where one her
supers involves breaking her opponent's back
with a heavy slam and then lifting him up for a
quick insult
before finishing the move.
One of the most talked about gameplay enhancements in
Super Street Fighter IV are the
Ultra Combos. You get to choose one of the two
ultras for each fighter. Ryu is getting the
Metsu Shoryuken to his arsenal, which is made up
of an impressive furry of beatdowns on his
opponent punctuated by a lightning of inks. You
can activate this move by two quarter-circle
motions on your controller toward your opponent
and pressing all three kick buttons. Ken, Ryu's
best friend, is given the Guren Senpukyaku,
which is a series of flaming roundhouse kicks
activated by two quarter-circle motions on your
controller and hitting all the kick buttons.
Besides the latest enhancements in the gameplay,
Super Street Fighter IV will feature five new
stages: North America, South Asia, East Asia,
Africa, and that part of the world called
Unknown.
The North American stage is set on an under
construction Skyscrapper that resembles the
background of Final Fight's Metro City. The
South Asia stage is dubbed the Exciting Street
Scene, which features many elements inspired by
Indian culture that includes the elephants and
exotic dancers. The East Asian stage takes place
in a Festival at the Old Temple with local
filling the street and cheering on the fight.
The Africa level is being called the Solar
Eclipse, where you'll see small clusters of
meerkats trying to mimic some of the fights
scenes during your contest. And finally, the
last stage called the Unknown will conducts its
matches in a Crumbling Laboratory, which looks
like a variation of Seth’s level in Street
Fighter IV. Judging from what we have seen so
far, it's going to be tough to pass up on this
as an upgrade. To us, it doesn't feel an
upgrade; it's more of a sequel. Needless to say,
the games looks to be another blockbuster hit. |
