NETGEAR GS305: BOOST CONNECTIVITY TO YOUR SMALL OFFICE

Recently, I helped my friend upgrade his network. He wanted wired Internet access to his office space but did not want a complicated setup, running a cat6 cable line through his network hub.

The problem was that his hub is ancient and outdated. It was so ancient that the ports could only handle 10 Mbps of data! Here comes Netgear GS305 to the rescue.

As it turns out, we did not have to look for a serious piece of equipment to complete this LAN project. The Netgear GS305 offers what we had been looking for. It’s plug-and-play, economical and requires little to no networking skills.

The Netgear GS305 comes with 4 unmanaged switch ports plus 1 internet uplink. Each port offers 1Gbps in speed. It can be wall-mounted. It’s energy efficient and the fanless design gives zero noise to wherever it is located.

The quality build seems good but what we are after is its performance. After doing a few speed tests, this device performed as expected, providing us with 400 Mbps in most of its ports.

My friend is happy with the setup! It works like a charm. The best part is that it did not cost us much for the upgrade. However, I would recommend that you plug the power adapter to a surge protector because these type of network hubs can die easily.
